A recurring chore in keeping your home clean is vacuuming the floors, but few homeowners ever enjoy this task. Hauling the vacuum from room to room and moving furniture can be quite irritating. Not to mention having to change the vacuum attachments in order to reach the hard-to-reach places.

A central vacuum system can make it much simpler to clean your floors. But it does have a few drawbacks as well.

A central vacuum cleaner keeps a canister receptacle and the motor in a single location and usually, it’s in the basement or garage.

Some systems are designed to spin air in a canister and exhaust it outside the home. While other systems will collect dust and debris in a canister or a bag that needs to be emptied from time to time.

Pros of a central vacuum system:

  • It provides more power than a portable vacuum because the motor can run up to five times as powerful as a standard vacuum.
  • The suction of the hose and cleaning attachment is considerably quieter. And the motor noise is muffled because it is in a secluded part of the home.
  • Indoor air quality is considerably improved. Airborne particles are removed from the home which cuts down on allergies mold spores and other irritants.
  • Central vacuum systems allow you to clean your home more quickly and thoroughly.
  • The portability of the hose makes it easier to clean difficult to reach areas.
  • Almost always a good investment for a homeowner

The cons of a central vacuum system:

  • The cost of the central vacuum system can be more expensive than the standard vacuum.
  • Since the hose used is up to 30 feet long homeowners may find it difficult to handle or to drag it from room to room.
  • The canister of a central vacuum system needs to be cleaned out infrequently but the process when needed may be annoying since it can kick up a considerable amount of dust.
  • The power of the system can sometimes cause unexpected problems. The added section may sometimes pull in larger items in a traditional back in will pick up
  • Vacuuming stairs can be difficult with the long holes of the central vac system.
So as with most things, there are the ups and downs to a central vac, but is the system worth the money for your household?

There are several reasons why you should consider a central vac system.

  1. You can vacuum without disturbing others since the system is much quieter than a traditional vacuum.
  2. What the central vac system Dustin allergens I’m backing up and then transported to the outside area. So if you have family members who have bad allergies or asthma this would be a good investment.
  3. If you have pets that shed. The strong power section of a central vac system handles pet dander better than any other traditional vacuum can.
So basically, most people either love or hate central vac systems. About 50% of homeowners say they would never build without a central vac system while the other 50% say they don’t care for the system.
Stay well informed do your research and then you can make an informed decision on whether the central vacuum system is right for your family.
